Sofia Montenegro holds a BFA from the HKU, Utrecht, an MA in Cultural Theory and Criticism from the Carlos III University, Madrid. She is currently doing an MA in Art Praxis at the Dutch Art Institute. Her practice is oriented towards invisible infrastructures and contemporary archaeology, and enjoys working with video, language and hidden practices.

Sofia has collaborated in projects and residencies at Lugar a Dudas (Cali), Tbilisi Triennial, Kunstverein Munich and Teatro Pradillo (Madrid). She has exhibited her work in Laboral Centro de Arte (Gijón), Sala de Arte Joven (Madrid), W139 (Amsterdam), Ron Mandos Galerie (Amsterdam), Kunstpodium T (Tilburg), What remains gallery (Munich), among others.
She also won the Jan Zumbrink Prijs and the Piet Bakker Prijs in the Netherlands, has been twice selected for Circuitos de Artes Plásticas (Madrid), and recently received an INJUVE production grant (Spain). Sofia co-founded the MilesKm, a collective platform exploring potential alternative structures within the arts, focusing on collaboration and learning.
